Wilmington film crew members share concerns

StarNews film reporter Amy Hotz has this article about the decline of local film projects that provide local crews with good jobs. Many people are now working out of state because of projects that are being filmed elsewhere. Do you think the film incentive will bring more projects and jobs to town this year?

Check out the Red One

Check out coverage of the Red One camera in columnist Si Cantwell's StarNews column. He interviewed Joe Stauffer (a WilmOnFilm user) about the camera and watched as a film crew used the camera on set.

Check out a short video that Si did featuring Stauffer and his Red camera.

North Carolina student filmmakers arrested after shooting a sex scene in public

I thought some of you, particularly students, would find this article from the Chronicle of Higher Education pretty interesting.

According to the article, some UNC-Chapel Hill student filmmakers were filming in Myrtle Beach, S.C. - but they didn't notify officials about what they were doing.

Police responded… Continue

Upcoming festivals, film events?

Hello, WilmOnFilm community :)

Hope you all are doing well.

I was curious if any of you know of any upcoming film events, including, but not limited to, festivals. I'm just trying to get an idea of different events happening in the state so WilmOnFilm can be sure to have a presence there.

We're planning some great things with this site, so stay tuned. Also, we're hoping to put together a meetup of WilmOnFilm members to get some feedback on the site and brainstorm some other… Continue

Movies representing states

Hey everyone! Hope your summer is going well.

I came across a fun article about film from the Florida Times-Union in Jacksonville, Florida. The journalist wrote a list of films that best represent each state in the country where they were made.

In regards to the Bashing video:
When I can pick out the person on the phone by the sound of his voice in the first ten seconds then things need to change. It's wilmington, anyone who hears the voice and knows Joe Montanti will clearly know it is him. We are not saying for him to take down the video, because Joe makes a very valid point on lying but he should have not mentioned the name Montanti half-way through and he should have changed the sound of montanti's voice just enough so it was not recognizable. Yes what he did was wrong but unless Montanti knows he was being recorded and hung on the stake that is just wrong. We are not back in the day of witch burnings or stoning anymore? There are better ways to handle injustice done to people in the film community. Not blasting them in front of everyone! I will be the first to say I don't care for Montanti words or his actions sometimes but I am not going to bash him in an online video on a website meant to network filmmakers together. Isn't that what I was told this website was for in the first place?
